so familiar that its true value was only fully realized once they were gone. The Craftloom exists to honor those hands.
My grandmother was a craftsperson at heart, & crochet was her great love. She made dresses, jackets, even bedspreads, for her family & friends. One stitch at a time. At 85, she was still at it, enjoying every minute. I admired that then, & I admire it even more now.
For decades, my mother ran a boutique, gathering fabrics & traditions from across India but her creativity extended beyond weaving she painted, baked, & hosted cooking workshops. For both women, creativity was never just a hobby it was their way of life.
I took a different path and spent 18 years in the corporate world. In 2020, my mother passed away, and her boutique closed with her. Losing her was hard. Watching something our family had carried for generations disappear along with her was hard too.
I kept coming back to that part of our history, and I wanted to find a way back to it. The Craftloom is how I'm doing that a way to honor what my grandmother and my mother built, because it felt too meaningful to let go.
Forward?
